Meditation and Practice
Buddhism is characterised by a variety of meditation methods. At Kamalashila Institute, meditation courses are offered on methods that stem both from millennia-old traditional traditions and from the experience of contemporary meditation teachers. Meditation practice can be practised both to develop peace of mind, mindfulness and to experience deeper insight into the nature of mind. There are also meditation methods for cultivating beneficial states of mind such as warmth of heart, compassion and so on. The rituals of Tibetan Buddhism are also meditations, practised with visualisation, mantras and hand gestures (mudras) according to prescribed texts, some of which are in Tibetan.
