During this light offering, which is part of the long Amitabha puja that is practiced every year at the Kamalashila Institute, we send light in all directions and to ourselves and wish for all beings to live without suffering and to attain the wisdom and compassion of the Buddha.

In the Amitabha ceremony, our wishes are especially for those who are ill or who passed away, irregardless of whether the deceased passed away recently or a long time ago.

Amitabha is the Budda of boundless light.
