Mitra Lee Worley

Buddhist teacher & Professor Emeritus of Performance and Contemplative Education

Lee Worley is professor emerita of performance and contemplative education at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. The Buddhist meditation master Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, from whom Lee learned mudra space awareness, invited Lee to establish a department of theater studies there in 1976. Lee is a practitioner of Vajrayana Buddhism and received the title of Mitra (spiritual friend) from Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche. Lee leads meditation retreats, presence training, and space awareness workshops internationally. She is the author of two books: Coming From Nothing: the Sacred Art of Acting and Teaching Presence: Field Notes for Players.
