Buddhist Philosophy
The wisdom teachings of Buddhism have unfolded over a period of 2500 years, from the extensive doctrinal discourses of the historical Buddha as collected in the Pali Canon, to the great Buddhist philosophers of the Indian Mahayana, to the original and witty teachers of the various cultures of Central and Southeast Asia. At the Kamalashila Institute, the main focus is on the philosophical teachings that were important in Tibetan culture and still are today. This includes works from the heyday of the Indian Mahayana to the Tibetan masters of the last 1000 years. And here, too, contributions from contemporary teachers, both Eastern and Western, can help us understand the profound teachings of Buddhism.
