Rebecca has been involved with Buddhism since childhood, particularly in the Tibetan tradition. She studied Tibetology, Indology, and comparative religious studies at the University of Hamburg and at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies in Sarah (Northern India). After completing her master's degree, she worked for several years as a Tibetan lecturer and coordination assistant at the Khyentse Center for Tibetan Buddhist Textual Scholarship at the University of Hamburg. This path also led her to workshops and study and research trips to India, Nepal, and Bhutan. She taught both classical and modern Tibetan at the University of Hamburg and at the Institut Tibétain Yeunten Ling in Belgium. Rebecca has worked and continues to work as a translator of Buddhist texts, including for the 84,000 Project and various book publications. She is co-founder of the Buddhist center and seminar house Tārāvana in Windeck-Halscheid (www.taravana.de). She is also a yoga teacher, passionate chocolate eater, slow walker, cloud watcher, involuntary rabbit owner, and above all, mother of two wonderful daughters—certainly the most exciting and instructive task of her life.
