Further Studies

The advanced studies of the Central Curriculum consist of the course “The Wisdom of the Mahamudra Masters” by Acharya Lama Kelzang Wangdi and the course “The Wisdom Book of the Great Tibetan Scholar Gampopa” by Acharya Lama Sönam Rabgye.

The intensive study of the wisdom of the Mahamudra masters refers to the wisdom teachings of the (Karma?) Kagyu school in its more than 1000-year-old lineage, and here in particular to the teachings of “Mahamudra.” Meditation sessions are combined with teachings, with the content taught introducing subsequent meditation exercises. Participants will receive video recordings in English with German translation, the underlying text, and German transcripts of each lesson.

Lama Sönam Rabgye will transmit and explain this well-known work by Jetsun Gampopa (1079-1153). He will help us to deepen and refine our understanding of the teachings, our own lives, and our own practice through the text, lectures, contemplation, meditation, and group discussion of the topics. Throughout the text, we will be guided to a deeper understanding of the practices and the path. Gampopa provides what is necessary to grasp and remember the treasures of the teachings in order to better recognize and avoid the pitfalls and dangers on the spiritual path.
