„Kagyu Monlam is to spread the seeds of loving kindness and pure motivation, to activate their power, and hence bring about genuine peace, love, happiness and well-being in the world.“
— 17th Gyalwang Karmapa
This weekend, together with Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, we want to express our deep wish for peace and harmony in the world. These prayer festivals take place in more and more countries all over the world, as was the heartfelt wish of H.H. the 17th Karmapa Orgyen Trinley Dorje, who took over the responsibility for the traditional Karma Kagyu Monlam in Bodhgaya in 2004.
This Kagyu Monlam is a wonderful opportunity to come together, motivated by the desire for peace and harmony within ourselves and in the world, to listen to teachings and recite prayers. Through our collective practice and our shared wishes for the well-being and spiritual development of all, the power of these prayers is multiplied.
This year, the focus of this year’s prayer festival is the “Instructions on fivefold Mahamudra.”
This text provides clear and detailed instructions for Mahamudra practice. With the help of this text, we can recognize a clear path of practice. These teachings contain the potential to dispel the confusion of the ordinary mind. They give us clear instructions for shaping, developing, and deepening our own practice and for avoiding difficulties along the way.
